First item on the agenda:

I was thinking of doing a “Karma” system.

Members would get a “Karma” section in their profiles. All starting out with 0 of course. The would get positive or negative points, based on their actions on the forums. Points could either be assigned by moderators themselves or other members. (Members would have to state their reason to a moderator who would approve or disapprove, depending on the consequences. Would require a specialised moderator).

Pro: Members and their anticipated behavior could be indentified.
Con: Might lead to labeling, discrimination. Subjective, if you don’t want to be treated like an idiot, don’t act like one.

Second item on the agenda:

Factions, or so to speak of, more groups. Specifically, making more than just the “Moderators” and “Members” group. Creating groups which would, for example, invite experienced and interested RPers, who would eventually have their own forum RP section just for them (Thanks goes to Haru for the RP section idea). Other groups might develop with time.

Pro: In the case of RP, would rule out godmodders, meta-gamers, l33t speakers or one-line posters and thus secure an enjoyable RP experience. The groups mentioned above would still be able to RP, of course, but not in the section for the experienced RPers.
Con: Against the ‘discrimination’ rules. Subjective, people who don’t want bad RPers in ther RP topic just post rules about godmodding and such which makes the ‘bad’ RPers stay away. So, no change there.

Third item on the agenda:

RP academy, might be a detachment. Not such an important part of the site but it might actually make people who are interested in RPing but don’t have such an experience with it more motivated to learn. I don’t know how involved the founder of the site is in the matter of RP but it really can ruin a good RPing experience when someone becomes unbeatable/reads your thoughts/posts one-line l33t speak posts. RPing, after all, is an important part of the site.

Pro: More sophisticated RP community
Cons: Time challenging for teachers, another time consuming task for administration, not such an important part of the forum.

My suggestion so far, others might come later. I’d like to know everyone’s opinion via posts or polls ... or both.

the karma sounds useful as you have few points it could let you know that you need to improve.

It’s a good idea to have a special thread just for serious RPers to gather. I’ve found it quite frustrating on other forums that there’s people who join an RP just to post once or troll around the forum. By using the factions options, you could avoid having these kinds of people come into the RP thread and troll around as they please.

The RP academy is also a good suggestion, in my opinion. It’s good to give a heads up the people who will potentially be joining the RP thread about what is permitted and what is not. It could also help those people that are new to RP and are just trying how to learn to do it properly. When I first started out, I was lucky to meet a guy that was quite experienced in RP. He taught me most of the basics, but it’s really hard to find somebody with the experience, patience and time to teach you. The academy could just be a gathering where the “mods” of the RP thread could post basic rules and do/do not’s of the RP thread.

Good suggestions, Rikimaru.

All very good suggestions. You already know how I feel about the forums just for experienced RPers. The Karma thing…ehh I’m not so sure. Surely noobs or someone that is simply butthurt might give someone negative karma for the wrong reasons. And who’s to say someone won’t make something up, either? Then it would require going to the “victim” and questioning them, and so on.

Exploiting the system is something I’ve already thought about. It’s either that only moderators could add or substract karma points or mods would be assigned to verifying member reports.

But both would actually mean that only mods would have the power to manipulate the karma, regardless of the level at which the member interacts with the karma system.

I.nu could use the Karma system from Gamefaqs; however, mods could give you negative Karma. It would be way too difficult to have enough positive Karma if the only way to obtain +K is by doing good deeds. Just my opinion.

Here’s a random question. I couldn’t find a proper place to ask this, so I’ll just drop it here since my access cuts off in less then five minutes… AKA lost computer = use library computer…

Anyway, back to the point. I don’t get the chance to sit back and do stuff on the computer like I used to, and was wondering if anyone knows how to get the InuYasha.nu email client to show up on a phone inbox? Probably would be an ‘imap’ setup, but I don’t know the server address to list under host, and all those ‘fun’ settings…

I’m just rambling, so if this is found to be annoying just tell me to shut up, lol.
