I was just watching episodes 133-134 again and they made me think about this. In the end of episode 134, Sesshomaru appears to be sympathetic for Sara. Could it be that he is a cold-hearted demon, as he appears to be throughout most of the series?
I’m not so sure myself, based on my fresh thoughts about the episodes and from some of the stuff regarding Rin in the Final Act. Also, he’s never really killed Inuyasha, when I’m pretty sure he could…..Any thoughts?
Well, Rin was the the only person that Sesshomaru brought back to life, although I was thinking that he did it as a way of thanking her for taking care of him while he was injured (not that he accepted her help) and felt guilty by leaving Rin’s dead body in the middle of the dirt. But I do agree with you, he does take after his mother, so that could explain why he seems to be so nonchalant about most things. However, he could also have, deep, deep down, his father’s compassion toward others. He did after all ask Sesshomaru if he already had someone to protect, as if he knew that Sesshomaru was able to have that kind of compassion toward someone else in order to protect them.
On that last bit…. My thoughts exactly! Sesshomaru’s had so many chances to kill Inuyasha off, yet he’s never done. And whenever they fight, it seems he’s just testing Inuyasha’s skills.
I’d actually read about that on this Inuyasha blog a couple of months back about the complexes in the series, and someone had commented about the typical sibling fights. It IS possible they could just be picking at each other since well, they are related after all.
That’s just me. I don’t like to think of Sesshomaru as the cold-hearted (and even heartless) kind of guy/demon because he seems to be more complex than that. Although he doesn’t appear as much as other characters do, he’s even more complex a character than Kagome is.
